It's the holiday season

With the whoop-de-do and hickory dock

Tonight we attended the Christmas concert at my old school. The man who encouraged me to learn trumpet as a shy little 7th grader is still in charge of the music department. Toby and Lynae noticed a big difference between public school music programs, in which some people "participate" solely because they need the credit, and the fine arts program they were part of in Kentucky.

The whole family enjoyed the concert. It proved to be a bit much for Jon in the end, though. I had to help him through the predictable meltdown afterward. I feel bad for him each time he goes through that, but it is a good reminder that we've done the right thing for our family in keeping holidays low-key.

I'd like us to make some goodies to give out to the neighbors later this week. Maybe we'll have a chance to do that tomorrow.

  1. You must have been walking down memory lane at that concert! I've never even thought of going back to my former hometown school concerts. I just might have to do that someday.

  2. How fun that must have been for you all! I'd love to see photos of your snow. :)

I am doing something, sort of, kind of, intersting. I am taking a picture in the same spot once a week in the yard for as long as we remain here. I want to see the changes in the different seasons. Will be something neat to remember when I'm long gone up North. :)

  3. Could you please tell me how you are able to change who types on the blog from you to Toby? I looked into changing the author and it said something about e-mailing them??? I want Emma to be able to post blogs on my blogs. :)

  4. Toby and Lynae have user accounts and are contributors to this blog. So I sent email to two other addresses (which I use for them, but not their own addresses) and they were sent invitations to blog here. Then I set each of them up with a user account and got them hooked up here.
