Why I Don't Really Carry A Purse

Somewhere along the way, Loren put his car in a ditch and between that and us trying to pull it out, it acquired ~$3000 worth of damage. I guess that was over two weeks ago. Although we're not done with that chapter, Loren's car is back on the road this week, which means I've gotten my truck back.

In the process of cleaning it out, I removed the purse and small tote I keep in it. Yep, in plain view. Here's what I found:

  • 10 pencils
  • 5 pens
  • 3 sharpie markers
  • 3 Sonic straws (there are no Sonics up here)
  • a DQ spoon
  • a hat (I hate hats)
  • 3 ponytail holders
  • a hair clip
  • 2 inhalers
  • 2 kinds of mints
  • lotion
  • binoculars
  • a Great Lakes Aquarium window sticker
  • a mirror
  • mascara
  • nail polish
  • Burt's Bees lip shimmer
  • Coppertone Kids lip balm w/sunblock
  • Melagel
  • Cortizone 10
  • 2 toothbrushes
  • toothpaste
  • 4 boxes of dental floss
  • did I mention the hat?
  • 2 Tangle toys
  • a toy car
  • a frisbee
  • an email printed in October
  • Oust spray
  • Clorox wipes
  • stain remover pen
  • face cloths
  • hand sanitizer
  • 1 lonely bandaid
  • 5 pills melted together
  • binoculars
  • 3 coupons
  • a check Michael received for his birthday (oops!)
  • 3 different kinds of allergy pills
  • Imodium
  • 2 note pads
  • enough feminine products to last at least two months

Lynae pointed out that if someone had stolen my purse, they wouldn't get an accurate picture of me. There were no tissues, no nail clippers, and THERE WAS NO BLISTEX. I find that hilarious. I keep Blistex everywhere. In fact, just off the top of my head, I can tell you there's Blistex:
  • on my desk
  • in my desk
  • in my dresser
  • in my winter coat pocket
  • in my light jacket pocket
  • in my sweater pocket
  • in my wallet
  • on the lamp stand in the living room
  • plus at least 3 in the bathroom
So I think I'll reassemble my bags for the truck. I will do it with the thought that maybe, if I do it right, I'll actually want to carry my purse with me.

Soon I'll be adding a back up glucose meter. My numbers are looking really good this week, but before long I may have to watch out for lows. Today I checked my blood sugar before we went to Walmart, and it was 79. That's a new low for me. Thankfully, I didn't feel sick because it hadn't been high previously. In fact, it was 130 this morning. I still have a ways to go, but I remember when it was consistently over 300 in the morning. No wonder I was napping every day!

On an unrelated note, there was significantly less snow on the way home than on the way to town. I don't mind that a bit!

  1. Wow, looks like you were just about prepared for any emergency that might have come your way! And that's hilarious about the blistex, I didn't know you had such an addiction!

One good thing about cleaning out stuff that hasn't been cleaned out in a while is that it's like Christmas and school supply shopping all rolled into one, dontcha think?

  3. I am so sorry about the car in the ditch! I'm glad nobody was hurt. You didn't say, but I'm guessing you would have if someone was.
